Five & Why, what Lobos love to watch: With Anna Alfaro

1. “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” directed by Andrew Adamson

“It was the movie that I saw as a kid (that) made me want to work in theater and do films and stuff. As a kid it was one of the first (books) that I read and I just loved all the special effects and the creatures and the story. (I watch it) at least once a year, often times more than that.”

2. “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” directed by Peter Jackson

“I’m a fantasy fan. I think a lot of times the movies I like are more grounded, which often times just comes from being a book (first) because there’s just so much information in books. I love the characters, particularly the hobbits. Samwise Gamgee is my absolute favorite character of all time. I love his loyalty and that he never gave up on Frodo. My favorite scene is not from ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ (but) it is from ‘The Lord of the Ring’ series, it’s the part in ‘Return of the King’ where Sam picks up Frodo and carries him up the volcano. That is my favorite scene of the entire trilogy.”

3. “Star Wars” trilogy directed by George Lucas

“I don’t have a favorite ‘Star Wars’ movie, but the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy is my favorite. For me, it’s like a modern day fairy tale. It has all of the fairy tale elements, but it’s science fiction. I like that aspect of it. The characters are fascinating to me. (My favorite character is) Luke. I am an extended universe fan, so I like his story post-movies and all the stuff that happened to him.”

4. “10 Things I Hate About You” directed by Gil Junger

“That one I really like because I’m not the biggest Shakespeare fan, but that movie was just so absurd and so funny and adorable and the characters were just hysterical. (My favorite scene is) where they go on their date and they end up just plastering each other with water balloons full of paint. It’s so worth watching, if only for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Heath Ledger.”

5. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo

“I like it a lot. For me, (this movie) was the best sequel they could have done. Oftentimes I feel that sequels don’t measure up to the first one, especially in the villains, but they totally upped the game. It escalated, which is what I really loved about it. And I loved Steve Rogers. Seeing how his story continued was the best thing for me. I’m a Marvel fangirl, so right now (my favorite) is tied between Captain America and his girlfriend in the ’40s. Peggy Carter is so much badass.”
