Not everyone can take two hours out from their day and watch movies.
It’s especially hard for graduate students who have to teach and go to school.
Darin Brown, a graduate student in the psychology department, feels the strain of having to work, go to school and conduct psychological research.
However, when Brown does have some free time, he likes to pop in an occasional movie. Brown sat down with the Daily Lobo to talk about some of his all-time favorite flicks.
1. “Wet Hot American Summer” directed by David Wain
It’s amazing. It has all these actors who are huge now. They really don’t make too many movies like that anymore, that are just stupid comedy. It’s campy and it’s not tongue-and-cheek at all.
2. “Joe Versus the Volcano” directed by John Patrick Shanley
It started off the whole Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan thing. It’s like this whole movie that I used to watch with my dad a lot. It’s a good movie. It’s such a stupid movie. There’s a bunch of lines in that movie that me and my friends used to quote a lot.
3. “The Graduate” directed by Mike Nichols
It’s a classic. It’s like all those Wes Anderson-type movies. It kind of got spurned from the quirkiness of that movie. It has Dustin Hoffman when he’s young and he’s really good.
4. “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” directed by Wes Anderson
Bill Murray is sometimes a god. That role is just really awesome for him. The soundtrack is just all David Bowie but like in Portuguese, which makes it that much cooler. It’s shot so beautifully. I love that movie.

5. “Buffalo ‘66” directed by Vincent Gallo
It’s kind of indie-ish. I kind of like the off the cuff love stories. I’m kind of into it and it’s kind of disturbing.
