Monday on the Street: Degree plans

Why did you choose your degree plan and how are you going to apply it to the real world?

Ruben Trujillo, sophomore, biochemical engineering

“My degree will be in biomedical engineering, basically making prosthetics and with that I want to help people who have disabilities.”

Cassandra Wilson, sophomore, biochemistry

“I chose biochemistry because I’m interested in neuroscience, but UNM does not offer a neuroscience degree so it seems like the best alternative. I hope to be able to lead young girls who are into difficult situations with familial conflicts.”

Danielle Chavez, senior, criminology and psychology

“I chose criminology and psychology because I do not know how other people kill people. I want to be a crime analyst. I do not want to be the person that finds criminals, I want to be the person that interviews criminals and find out how they think so we can apply that to other situations and hopefully deter crimes in the future.”

Justin O’Shea, senior, environmental science

“I choose environmental science because I am passionate about the environment. I (will) probably become a lobbyist, lobby for an interest concerning the environment. I'm not sure what exactly I want to do yet, but for sure I want to combat climate change.”
