Letter: Republicans are repeating dark history through mass deportations

Editor,

The Republicans’ 30-year lock on the Supreme Court has made them extremely reactionary and unwilling to legislate.

“Ethnic cleansing” has been defined as the attempt to get rid of (through deportation, displacement or even mass killing) members of an unwanted ethnic group in order to establish an ethnically homogenous geographic area.

According to the National Holocaust Musuem, Nazi Germany planned to deport around 11 million European Jews.

When the logistics proved to be impossible, it became much easier to just start murdering these sub-human leeches.

Why is the mass deportation of 11 million American immigrants, the definition of ethnic cleansing on a biblical scale, which would be an economic and moral disaster, preferable to bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reforms that secure the border, expand the tax and entitlement base, and keep millions of American families together and intact?

The Republicans control all branches of government. If they are really a party of Christian family values, why are they emulating some of the worst and darkest moments of human history from the 20th century, like mass deportations? #NeverAgain
