Baseball: Jared Mang latest Lobo to take home MW Player of the Week honors

For the fifth time this season, a Lobo baseball player was named Mountain West Player of the Week. This week it was sophomore outfielder Jared Mang who took the reigns.

Mang hit .471 last week -- including a weekend series with Fresno State and a game at in-state foe New Mexico State. The healthy batting average was also accompanied by more impressive statistics, including eight runs scored and seven RBI.

Prior to Mang, three other Lobos have won the coveted award. Senior first baseman Jack Zoellner has earned the honor twice this season, as well as junior outfielder Luis Gonzalez and junior third baseman Carl Stajduhar.

On the season, Mang has hit at a.333 average. He has racked up plenty of extra-base hits including seven doubles, a triple and two home runs. Mang has scored 27 runs and 29 RBI—which ranks second on the team this season.

The Lobos travel to California on Wednesday for a midweek matchup with out-of-conference opponent San Diego.
