When it comes to attending the University of New Mexico, you’ll notice the school stands out in one important way — diversity. The University takes pride in accepting students from all over the country, and even the world.
Those pictured include Taylor Marsh, Elias Vasquez, Tori Gibson, Isayah Smith, Aurora Harris and Rohan Moise. These students are an example of the different ethnicities that attend UNM.
The reason these statistics are important to me can be described in one word, friendship. As a resident of rural northern Virginia, I was unable to experience heavy diversity. Attending UNM has expanded my thinking and exposure to different cultures. Being an exploratory person, I now have friends that have lived or live in places such as England, France, Mexico and various states within the U.S.
This is an opportunity to explore the cultural differences and change within myself.
