The preliminary, preparatory or foundational 'practices' or 'disciplines' are common to all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and establish the foundation for the more advanced meditational practices. Although we have a wish to engage in meditation practice, we have difficulty fulfilling that wish because we experience many mental and physical obstacles to our practice. The foundational practices provide a clear method that anyone can follow to remove obstacles in our spiritual path. Everybody is welcome. Suggested donation for Friday evening talk is $10. Additional teachings on Saturday and Sunday - call for information.

Safety and Wellness
Ends at: 2:00 AM
Location: Student family Housing

Program is offering free massages to student residents while UNM Police Officers and Fire Officials present Safety information to residents. Presentations will be in preparation for the change of season and the necessary adjustments. Presentations will cover proper protocol for missing children, how to use fire extinguishers and other Safety presentations to be announced. Guest speaker from UNM Health Center will also offer presentation on managing time and stress during upcoming finals week. Massages will be offered in Student Family Housing Community Room from 4-6 on Friday and continue on Saturday from 10-2. Safety events on Saturday will begin with a practice fire drill at 10:00. Refreshments and jumper will be provided on Saturday for speakers, Student Family Housing student residents and their family members.

Heart Shrine Relic Tour

Location: Quang Minh Tu (Vietnamese Buddhist Temple)

A unique collection of more than 1,000 sacred Buddhist relics is currently on tour and has been publicly displayed in more than 150 cities around the globe. The collection includes relics of the historical Buddha and the Buddha’s closest disciples as well as other well-known Buddhist masters from Chinese, Indian, and Tibetan traditions.
