Teach Math or Science The University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools are seeking talented post-baccalaureate math and science graduates to participate in a 14-month academic/ practicum program that will lead to full New Mexico licensure as a secondary math or science teacher. The participants who successfully complete the probationary pre-service will receive a fellowship stipend and prepaid tuition. The pre-service activities will begin in June 2009. Following the summer coursework and field experience, interns will share a teaching position with an intern partner in a middle or high school classroom during the 2009-2010 academic year. Title V: Now Hiring Mentors DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duty will be to provide mentoring and tutoring services for entry level students. Mentors should be familiar with materials and resources available to students on campus and will share that knowledge to students participating in Title V. Attend assigned class sessions, mentor trainings and mentor meetings. Mentors should be available to students during work hours, and are expected to make personal contact with assigned students. Mentors will also assist the Director, Program Specialist, and staff in the fulfillment of Title V objectives. REQUIREMENTS: You must have completed 26 earned credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, especially in either Math or English. Applicant should understand the basic content knowledge in either freshman level Math, or English courses. Must be friendly and enjoy working in a team environment.
