America needs to wake up and unite as a nation
Editor,
I am more than curious — I really want to know — am I the only person in this country who was born in the United States of America and now finds himself living in the Divided States of America? A nation that the people we have placed in charge want to keep divided because divided, we are easier to dominate and control?
I wonder if there are other people in this country who are having the same experience I am — that any iota of attempting to seek what is best for us all is something foreign to the people we have elected to serve us.
Isn’t it time that we “woke up” and united in the cause of giving our once-great nation a new birth of freedom, so that “government of the people, by the people, for the people,” can once again exist on the earth?

This letter fails to account for the vast differences in human desires, human ambitions, and human abilities. Some continue to perpetrate and force equality, but the reality is that we are all very different and to force such an idea, at the point of a gun is inhumane. T
he United States is the first of its kind designed to embrace differences and individuality not force equality. However many Americans naively refuse to accept this concept. Instead they tell us “to get along” as long as we all “get along” with their terms.

What is the best way to sell big government and then world government to a people like ours, historically devoted to an independent republic of limited powers? The answer is the tactic from revolutionary literature known as
Pressure From Above and Below.

Delibrately create problems, and then offer only those solutions that result in the expansion of government. Create conditions so frightful at home and abroad that the abandonment of personal liberties and national sovereignty will appear as a reasonable price for a return to domestic tranquility and world peace. If those that seek world dominion can stimulate leftist mobs into violent confrontation with local law enforcement and also provide exhaustive news coverage so that the entire nation can see and tremble then the peaceful and freedom loving majority can be programmed to accept a vast expansion of government powers and even a national police force offered supposedly to end the violence. If those that seek world dominion can raise the specter of an enemy armed with superior atomic weapons on the verge of launching a nuclear holocaust and also offer world government as the prevention than millions of Americans can be programmed to accept the loss of national sovereignty as our last best hope for peace.

Everything in our society revolves around corporate consumerism, it’s the capitalist way. We watch the television daily to escape from reality, when reality as we know it is completely skewed from our humanly natural ways. The national news coverage focuses on issues known to spark argument among people; people with their strong opinions on situations continually argue untill they loose the ability to see the other person in a cooperative manner. The only information the general public will ever know is what is brought forth in television and newspaper. It’s the ulitimate form of mind control; control what goes in order to control how they act. Of course, no one is brain washed, according to them, becuase they have the ability to read between the lines. If the only thing you see is what the media wants you to see, you will never know anything else.
There’s a policeman inside all our heads: he must be destroyed!

Speak for yourself Peace. That policeman tells me what is right and wrong regardless of where it comes from. I’d say it does the same for most everyone else. People tend to watch what agrees with their viewpoint already. Would you prefer mindless zombies all following the dictates of a centralized authority? That policeman is important.

Where do you think the policeman comes from? Where do your ideas of right and wrong come from? This is nothing new. It’s not some conspirisy theory. It’s unnatural to sit in front of the television or listen to the radio and be bombarded by advertising. You don’t even realize it’s happening becuase of growing up with it.

That policeman is given to each of us by some porion of the coroporate media. What is right and wrong is in the best interest of corporate profit. The policeman would be obsolete in lack of media, and we would know right and wrong by the repercussions of our actions, not what someone on a television says.
A prime example: Support of Israel or dislike of Iran

The issue to me is that Barack Hussein Obama, the socialist community organizer that has found himself in over his head and does not know what to do; has failed to keep the balance between government rule and economic rule. The banks, Goldman Sachs as an example are running the country. PO isn’t

All of my ideas of right and wrong stem from the absolute moral of Every man has the right to live for his own sake (for himself). It has nothing to do with TV. We are not mindless bodies molded by television.
How do Americans not support it Isreal, or like Iran then?

Every person has the right to live as they seem fit regardless of race, sex, political view, etc. How many times does that right become acomplished? Wouldn’t every person then be extremely wealthy with no reason to work? It is this drive to become wealthy that is the backbone of all social norms in this society. The truth is that we will never become satisfied when we follow this desire, whether we become wealthy or not.
Television and mainstream media has an unspoken duty to encourage this desire, as it will lead to corporate profits given by the people from their labors.

The problem with the US is that it elected a president as an expression of its wish to develop by reason and logic, only to revert to slavish worship of blind force. Says the GOP: ‘Reason, logic – these are for pussies!’ Then, cowards that we are, we fall back and say ‘You’re right, what was I thinking?’

Actually, you are partially right. Money does not bring happiness, however, what other people believe really shouldn’t matter right? Is it wrong to believe in fooish things? No, thats their problem. And every ass that attempts to look through their nose at others that “make less” obviously have personal issues and are most likely insecure. I personally do not befriend these types. However, I will never attempt to confiscate that idea or make them so that they cannot believe these things. And I watch a lot of TV.

Interesting discussion.
DAMIAN, a different explanation of the policeman…. He doesn’t tell us “what is right and wrong” rather, he tells us what is the law- even if the law is wrong.
PEACE, your “policeman would be obsolete in lack of media,” does not explain the crimes of Billy the Kid, Gingus Kahn- both who were illiterate and had no access to media as you use it. Those who commit violent acts are different from the majority of the people, media not withstanding. Those who disagree over social and political issues do so out of belief they chose to embrace.
I do not need a media person to make me disagree with a point of view. I believe the information available to us has presented the stark differences we have. An example is the president’s statement at the end of the get together yesterday. Because of media we seen him throw down the gauntlet. Agree or disagree we know where he stands. If we see him as a president frustrated in his effort to do what his followers believe is right, we applaud him. But if we see him as an uncomprising bully, we will disagree and use his statement to marshall our believers. Media has provided us with the facts. Aren’t we better off being knowledgeable?

Wrong audience in the wrong Territory..I mean pseudo welfare state of the United States of America which is described and identified as “New Mexico” ….which has nothing to contribute to the USA!
A barren land of “wanna be Americans” for welfare checks and “wanna not be’s” of mostly conquered mexican and native american heritage! Painfully true! and you all know it!
New Mexico has no position , influence or respect within the confines of the USA, Mexico, or the pathetic memories of a Great Native American culture!
This is a wasteland ….. your article is a waste of time directed to and at a worthless and cowardly group of inhabitants!

The media is usefull for giving us knowledge, but when the powers that be decide to control what knowledge is propagated, it becomes a form of mind control. It doesn’t usually incite violence; I’m sure Billy the Kid or Ghangus Khan would have been violent humans even if they were in our society today.
Here’s the point to all of this:
Mainstream media controls how we see situations, and distracts us from realizing our potential.

I invite you to research Edward Bernays. He is the nephew of Sigmund Freud. There is a documentary called the century of the self that describes his contributions to our current media and government:
http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=8339
He wrote a book titled PROPAGANDA:
http://books.google.com/books?id=JlcPgPt17KcC&printsec=frontcover&dq=propaganda&source=bl&ots=o4nt_rSRRi&sig=Sb5kKty7lVvuRkgKH_HWkVIQkkE&hl=en&ei=mYaIS_uGB47ktQOPopWzDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CBMQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=&f=false
Edward Bernays made it possible to persuade general opinion to support a certain concept or product by appealing to the irrational emotional self. He made it possible to sell a lifestyle instead of a product with capabilities x y and z. He should be viewed as the founder of american consumerism. I theorize every form of mainstream media uses the psychoanalytical techniques given by Bernays to better their ratings.

The mainstream media is definitely not some higher power, it’s transparencies are obviously apparent. Yet somehow many of us believe that, for some reason, we are so enlightened so as to be able to grasp the “propaganda” of consumerism. Its not that it is difficult to see, its that it is we simply enjoy it.
Those that are ambitious in life will not get distracted by the media. What you should be doing is stop worrying about everyone else and work to advance your own situation. If they are happy watching and consuming and living life in a sloth fashion…so be it. One should not FORCE anyone into a situation that will “help themselves”.

I would argue that a healthy society is one that has the capability to survive with little worry. Not one that needs to focus on survival on a daily basis.

Iran:
cell phone use, internet, youtube, facebook, twitter, all shut down so the world (and people like “peace”) doesn’t see whats going on. Embassies attacked, all western media kicked out of country, local media controlled by state.
Iran: hiding nuke sites (Qom, etc.), flipping the bird to the west on the issue 20 years and gaining momentum the past 8 years
Iran: fooled Harvard’s Walt and Mearsheimer (idiotic tools of the left’s political agenda). You can safely say their national Intelligence Estimate was unbelievably off the mark.
Iran: calling for genocide repeatedly
Iran: denying the Holocaust happened
Iran: Hosting International Conferences on Holocaust Denial, led by Iran’s highest government officials.
Iran: calling to destroy the one Jewish state, threatening Europe and the US.
Iran: training, funding, supplying largest terror groups (Hizbullah far more equipped, operational, and sophisticated than Al Qaeda and Taliban combined.
Iran: seeking regional hegemony by Hamas/Hizbollah proxies (Lebanon, Aza, Syria) over Sunni Arab states and all middle east.
Iran: seeking to become Islamic super power by Nuclear bomb technology.
Iran: taking US, British journalists, academics, westerners hostage, in 1980 and in this decade, even today.
Saying Iran and Israel are the same is like saying Al Qaeda and the USA are the same. Broad strokes of the brush are the tools of idiocy. Dont be fooled by people who have little clarity and ability to differentiate.

I assume you mean becoming successful in society. In that case I assure you that I will not strive for wealth, and I will expose the paradox of happiness to as many people as I can.
The system is meant to keep you in want for enjoyment.

Lets just look at the experiment methodology. Say someone invents asprin and gives it to 100 people with headaches one day and by noon, all the headaches are gone. What has been proven? Absolutely nothing. However if the same inventor gives asprin to 50 headache sufferers and a placebo to another 50 and the head aches of the ones that took asprin go away, but the placebo receivers still have heacaches; much has been proven!
The USA can be compared to the 50 people experiment group taking the asprin. The founding fathers, Englilsh speaking, the constitution, capitalism and the moral backbone proved that these ingredients work and effectively produced the most successful civilization the earth has ever known.

The issue is as the writer put it, how to get back on this track. Therefore socialism and big government should clearly be shunned infavor of the country’s origin. Although we can “never go home” as they say; we can get back on track and realize that we don’t have time to waste on spending ourselves into oblivion or Obama’s ACORN form of government.
Barack Hussein Obama, the socialist community organizer that has found himself in over his head and does not know what to do; has failed to keep the balance between government rule and economic rule. slowhike, your stupidity never fails to amaze me. half of the time you are simply unintelligible, the rest you are saying shit i wish i couldn’t understand because it pains me that some one who has the ability to read can be so ignorant. are you actually unthinking enough to believe the right-wing drivel about how barak obama is a socialist? if so, you clearly need to go back to some economic theory classes (yes, socialism is an economic system, not a political one, dip shit) to learn the difference. the banks have been running the country since shays rebellion of 1786 when they paid for the first military in the independent country’s history. should tell you something when the ‘founding fathers’ are killing their own country men for rebelling against usury. look it up cuz knowing a little more certainly couldn’t hurt you. point is that obama is pretty right-wing. you just dont know that because all you cowards on the right like to think of yourselves as a persecuted minority. wake the fuck up! the whole country is right-wing, and look where its gotten us. lastly, just because the man’s middle name is ‘Hussein’ doesn’t mean he’s a terrorist, you simple-minded fuck-wit.
lobo 007, you are an idiot, (though slightly less so than slowhike) no other way to put it. do you still believe in the WMD bullshit after all we went through with iraq? i should hope not, but it seems like in your backward world view, a country hating the US (which propped up a dictator there from 1953-1979) deserves to be ‘intervened’ on. and yes, moron, ‘intervened on’ means bombed. you are pathetic, you want a threat to peace, look no further than israel and the US.

fact is that our country is in a bit of a bind at the moment. it would take a lot of people working together to get us out of this mess, and prevent the next one. thats not gonna happen as long as half of the population is busy licking glen becks balls, and the other half is whining and smoking weed. grow the fuck up, america! for such a powerful nation, we have a tendency to act a lot like children most of the time.

Post American wrote, “Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim Marxist usurper…”. Wait a minute, Brian…you voted for Obama in 2008. You portrayed him as a political Messiah, as the one who would finally end Bush’s failed policies overseas and would magically repair all of GWB’s blunders…remember? What finally made you realize that he is the wrong person to occupy the Oval Office?
To Connor: You accuse “slowhike” of being ignorant but fail to see your own ignorance. Obama IS indeed a socialist and anyone who doesn’t see that by now is either too damn ignorant or too damn apathetic to notice. He is redistributing wealth by promoting his socialist agenda of “universal health care”…do you know how much this new health care bill is going to cost American taxpayers?

Federal spending has increased in nearly every category since Obama was inaugurated last year. Everyone thought he was going to end Bush’s failed legacy once and for all…but now not only do we have troops in Iraq but also in Afghanistan to fight this so-called “war on terror”. Obama is turning America into a socialist state. But don’t take my word for it…I can show you an issue of Newsweek magazine that dissects Obama’s Marxist policies. Socialism is the path that leads to communism and I’m genuinely worried about America’s future and its role in the international community.
And saying that “our country is in a bit of a bind” is a HUGE understatement. Our national debt is above 10 TRILLION dollars, that’s about 80% of our Gross Domestic Product(GDP)…the interest payments on that debt will be about 2% of our GDP in a few years. Our federal budget deficit is about $1.2 trillion and growing. And Obama is doing NOTHING to resolve this economic mess that Bush started. China owns our debt…so whom do you think is the new world superpower now? Future generations of Americans will have a COLOSSAL burden on their hands if we continue this trend of borrowing money from other countries. We are going to be in very serious trouble if we don’t fix this problem very soon.
The solution is NOT to raise taxes like Obama says…it’s to reduce federal government spending and to give heavy tax penalties on companies that are exporting jobs outside the USA. Part of the solution is to reduce the corporate tax on most companies, to remain globally competitive and retain jobs here in America.

Barack Hussein Obama definitely leans to the left, and has socialist tendencies. A few alienated individuals like “connor” spew their restlessness to show that they have no strong ties to others. They often pursue degraded verbal distractions and sensations due to their inability to communicate effectively. To recite the variance between politics and economics relative to socialism is a clear sign of a corrupt liberal ethos; these entities are immesurably intertwined.
Liberal socialism has no corrective within itself; all it can do is endorse more government and demand more welfare-like programs. The drives of liberalism are catastrophic for American society at large- the great Middle America because of the continual degradation it fosters. Liberal socialism is a movement “away from”, it’s an impulse not based on a stable agenda. When morals in a civilization decline (as evidenced by the rise in abortions, same sex marriage movements and support for a welfare way of life)chaos, which only government can control, results. In this manner the liberal’ pursuit of a “freedom to do what ever one wants” agenda simultaneously promotes larger government. Advanced progressive individual freedom (read extreme self-indulgence) is therefore inextricably intertwined with big government.
