Quarterback coach bolts to Kentucky
A source close to New Mexico quarterbacks coach Tee Martin told the Daily Lobo late Wednesday night that Martin will accept the wide receivers coach opening at Kentucky.
The deal is reportedly worth about $40,000 more than Martin makes here, which puts his salary in the ballpark of $150,000. Martin makes roughly $110,000 at the University.
There was intense speculation by some Web sites that Martin’s departure to join new coach Joker Phillips’ staff was imminent.
In the end, Martin’s connections within the program helped land him the job, the source said.
Martin has a working relationship with Kentucky offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders. The two crossed paths at Tennessee, where Sanders was a longtime coach, and Martin a player from 1996-99.
In 1999, Sanders was promoted to be the Volunteers’ offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. Coincidentally, his first game as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator coincided with the Volunteers playing in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl, in which Martin led Tennessee to a 23-16 victory, helping the Volunteers secure the national championship.

It was inevitable and I don’t think anyone was surprise to see Coach Martin leave considering Locksley’s on and off field bad behavior. The coaches, the team, the fans, the staff everyone but, Krebs and his cohorts will admit Locks was an extremely bad hire.

I wish coach Tee all the success and peace that he deserves. He’s a fair and honest coach which is more than anyone can say for coach Locks. I can see that coach Locks dishonest schemes and fraudulent systems are catching up with him.

And another opportunity for the trolls to chime in and slam Locksley…
Of course, anyone who actually follows the sport would know that assistants leave all the time. In fact, Rocky Long had assistants leave from his staff EVERY YEAR. So, I guess it must have been something related to Long’s character and not for other reasons, like professional advancement, a bigger paycheck, more responsibility, or maybe to go live closer to home, huh?

Why would anyone be surprised to see Tee Martin leave to take $40k more per year, at a much bigger program, to go work with an old friend of his? Yeah. Big news. Of course, I’m betting that you didn’t care much for him making 3X the average UNM worker’s salary, but you’ll prop him up at Locksley’s expense anyway.
The fact is, you and the other Locksley haters expected there to be a mass exodus of coaches and players at the end of this season and it has not happened. One coach and one player — probably lower than the average defection at any university. Your only response then is to visit website to try to push some sort of “I told you so” agenda whenever something like this happens, when in fact it is just part of the business. Too bad you’ll just keep on posting the same tired responses though… yawn.

Coach Tee is gone and others will follow…NO one wants to be associated with Locks he doesn’t treat others with respect. His players HATE him and don’t regard him as an adequate role model. They say “Locks doesn’t care about them and treats them like farm animals”. NOTHING is going to change the fact that Locks is not qualified to be HC one player said “his high school coach can coach circles around Locks”

@Others Will Follow!: Yawn… You again? Just as I predicted. You sound like a broken record.
And where did you dig up this new bit of “insider” information? “Locks doesn’t care about them and treats them like farm animals…” Classic. Besides “them” referring to themselves in the third person, this quote sounds more like schoolgirls whining about their homework or boyfriends. You’ve never been around football players, have you?

The simple fact that Locksley had brought in arguably the best ever recruiting class to UNM tells me that every post you make on here about the players and assistants giving up on him are COMPLETE LIES. There is NO WAY that could happen if what you claim is true. No way. Of course, if you had ANY understanding of the way things work in college footbal, you would know that.
Just like this “vote of no confidence” (which I understand was about 500 or so votes from 1800 or so respondents and a student body of 24k ?, lol), your repetitive, mindless droning on here just shows me that this agenda is being pushed by a small, vocal minority who probably have no interest in sports at UNM. You might be successful getting one or two idiots to listen to you, but it’s not going to help. Locksley will be the coach through this season and probably next, until he has been given the chance to do his job — which includes being allowed to recruit his players to learn and play in his system. Until then, you might as well save your breath…

I guess coach Tee got out before the fireworks really start! lol. Locksley would be an ignoramus not to follow the NCAA regulations/guidelines. However, he was dumb enough to get an EEOC claim of age discrimination/sexual harassment charges filed against him, assaulted an assistant coach, which has developed into another EEOC claim against him and the university. Okay, anything is possible with this idiot. Krebs you really know how to choose a HC but, then again you are no prize AD yourself.

If I were you Hefman aka Mike Locksley, I would be very worried about an NCAA investigation especially when you get turned in for the illegal recruiting of your prized recruit Calvin Smith. Or maybe it will surface when you hire his father for a created position on the UNM football coaching staff. And you know that there is more dirt on you out there, you are a private failure attempting to be a public success. There are people out there who know what kind of person your really are. You are a crook who doesn’t have an honest bone in your body. It shows that you are a child trapped in a man’s body. Spend time becoming a better person and actually developing your players to become better men instead of reading blogs all day. The beauty of life is that the fake always gets exposed and Mr. Hefman Locksley you will not be able to wiggle your way out of everything. By the way Hefman, you seem to know a lot about the inner workings of New Mexico Athletics which you demonstrate so graciously on this blogging caveat. But it also pinpoints a sad attempt to plead your sorry case to anyone that will listen or read. Hefman aka Mike Locksley the lies and deception will eventually come to an end. Best of luck in the future you fraud. The only reason our beloved coach Locksley is in the coaching profession is because he CAN NOT do anything else to earn a living. Coaching has provided Mike Locksley with a primetime stage to deceive student-athletes, fans, administration, and parents. The real fans of New Mexico are not falling for the horse and pony show you call a football program. Time is ticking and time will tell!
