Middle East peace coalition strongly disagrees with Israel
Editor,
What is the Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Middle East-UNM?
In fall 2009, a group of UNM students angered by the December 2008 Israeli attack on Gaza formed the Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Middle East. The CPJME is a student-chartered organization working to broaden the dialogue around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to include the Palestinian perspective, whose viewpoint is pivotal to understanding the entire conflict.
We strongly disagree with the Israeli government’s policies of human rights abuses against the Palestinian people of Gaza and the West Bank. Some of Israel’s violent policy acts include — but are not limited to — house demolitions, illegal building of Israeli settlements on Palestinian land, the uprooting of olive tree groves and other countless abuses.
Members of CPJME believe the actions and policies of the Israeli government do immense harm to the Jewish people and give Judaism a bad name. These actions also do immense harm to the reputation of the United States, which, by supporting these actions, is complicit in Israel’s ongoing violation of international humanitarian law.
CPJME is pro-human rights and against the denial of human rights everywhere. As advocates for equality and human rights, we strive to protect the future for both Palestinians and Israelis.
Last semester, CPJME held educational events including a talk by an ex-Israeli soldier, Micha Kurz. The group also showed a series of films aimed to raise awareness about the 62-year history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the occupation. In the coming months and ongoing future, the UNM Coalition will continue its education and raising awareness efforts with panels, speakers, films and other events. The group also has a weekly information table (every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) in the SUB basement.
The University is a learning institution that supports all students’ First Amendment rights and that also encourages engagement in dialogue around issues such as the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) international campaign that calls for the nonviolent protest of Israel’s blatant human-rights abuses of the Palestinian people.
In 2005, more than 170 Palestinian coalitions, unions, refugee groups, human rights and social justice groups put out a call to the international community for “boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law and the universal principles of human rights.”
This worldwide campaign was inspired by the South African struggle against apartheid, which was the racist policy of segregation instituted by the primarily white government of South Africa. From 1948 to 1994, the South African government curtailed the rights of its black residents. Today, the BDS campaign against Israel is actively supported by international and national faith-based groups, human-rights organizations and other nongovernmental organizations. Several local Albuquerque groups also actively support this campaign.
The UNM Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Middle East supports the local BDS community. Several current and former UNM students, along with other members of the UNM Coalition, are participating in this ongoing campaign.
We are for the human rights of all — including Palestinians.
The Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Middle East-UNM will present a spring events series addressing the Israel-Palestine issue. Two Palestinian journalists, Ziad Abbas and Mohammed Omer, are scheduled to speak at UNM from March 30 to April 8 in the Student Union Building on the UNM campus. In addition, a series of films, with audience discussion, on the effects of the occupation on both Palestinians and Israelis, will be shown April 4-5 in the SUB Theater.

This group is a front for terrorism, plain & simple.
You are not a group interested in dialogue, you prefer hearing yourselves talk. You are a monologue group , not an honest arbitrator, but an adamantly pro- fallacynian group, per the usual.

You wdere angry about Israel defending its people against 8,000 hamas missiles the UN recently declared (post facto by 2 years)as deliberatly targeting Israeli citizens.
So, it is ok to bomb Jewish people’s living rooms, kindergardens, playgrounds, synagogues. Thats ok Guida “ignorant of my own Jewish history” Leicester?
You response will be political-speak: “good Fallacynians, bad Israelis.”
The truth is that Jordan is pragmatic solution to the 2 state scenario. It is ruled by non native British imports from Mecca circa pre WW2. Jordan is a full 78& of the land in the Palestine Mandate. Not insignificantly it is all primed to be a “Palestinian” state, as it has a majority population of 80% “Palestinians”.
In fact King Abdullah is getting tight under the collar. What’s that sound? Oh it is the sound of him, again, stripping 10’s of 1000’s of “Palestinians” of Jordanian citizenship. He is very nervous about his grip on power.
Pragmatics never interested you did it Guida?

Interesting, nevertheless, the resolution to the Middle East situation, as is the case with most international conflicts, often lies in what I believe was a statement by Chairman Mao in his little book of thoughts, “ Justice comes from the muzzle of a gun.”
That being noted, I suggest some of the “ True Believers”, as Eric Hoffer would note, concentrate on their studies, present their views with less passion and more logic, and attempt to understand that a Supreme Being doesn’t come to earth with a flaming sword to smite the infidels in their tracks.

Here are some quotes. Do they represent your viewpoint?
“Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our Prophet Muhammad. Today, Rome is the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital. . . . This capital of theirs will be an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas.” — Hamas MP and Islamic cleric Yunus al-Astal, 2008

And this one:
“We reject the U.N., reject America, reject all law and order. Don’t lobby Congress or protest because we don’t recognize Congress. The only relationship you should have with America is to topple it. . . . Eventually there will be a Muslim in the White House dictating the laws of Shariah.” — Muhammad Faheed, Muslim Students Association meeting, Queensborough Community College, 2003
Or what about this one?
“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qu’ran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.”—Omar Ahmed CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations) Founding Chairman

It is Israel which refuses to define its borders in order to obtain a meaningful peace with the Palestinians.
It is Israel which continues to harass Lebanon, with illegal overflights to which the IDF is hoping the Lebanese military will respond, so that they have another excuse to go into Lebanon, all the way to the Litani river, because they want to claim the water as its own.
It is Israel which has nuclear weapons, as confirmed by the revelations of Mordechai Vannunu in the late 80s, and by both former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and former American President Jimmy Carter.
It is Israel which urged the US to invade and occupy one of its former “existential threats in the region”, Iraq. The Iraq war was built on a pack of lies with which to “sell” the war to the American people; now, Israel is trying to do the same thing with Iran.
It is Israel which believes that its Mossad can carry out extrajudicial assassinations everywhere in the world with impunity, as evidenced by the recent “hit” on Mahmoud al-Mabhoud in Dubai.
It is Israel which takes territory by any means they think they can get away with, as evidenced by the recent declaration of “heritage sites”. As reported on 25 February 2010 in:
http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/41481/soldiers-clash-with-upset-palestinians/
“At a special Cabinet meeting Feb. 21, Netanyahu announced the plans for the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, as well as Rachel’s Tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem, to be added to a list of national heritage sites that Israel will rehabilitate and promote. Altogether, about 150 sites are on the list.”
“The Palestinians claim all of the West Bank as part of a future state, and see the Israeli move as a provocation. In fact, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, speaking Feb. 23 during a visit in Belgium, warned that the region could plunge into a “religious war.” ‘
it is Israel which is the ultimate “bad neighbor” in the Middle East.

It is Israel which has nuclear weapons, as confirmed by the revelations of Mordechai Vannunu in the late 80s, and by both former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and former American President Jimmy Carter. And it is Israel who has never threatened to use, or use them even in 1973 when Israel was invaded on all its borders by 5 Arab armies and was in dire straits. Even then Israel did not threaten nor did she use her complete arsenal against the invading Muslim hordes.
It is the Sunnis in Saudi Arabia which urged the US to invade and occupy one of its former “existential threats in the region”, Iraq. The Iraq war was built on a pack of lies with which to “sell” the war to the American people. Now Saudi Arabia is trying to do the same thing against the Shias in Iran.
It is Muslims which believes they can carry out genocide everywhere in the world with impunity, as evidenced by what is happening in Sudan.
It is Islam which takes territory by any means they think they can get away with, as evidenced by what is happening in Sudan, what happened in Turkey when Muslims killed 1,000,000 Armenian Christians and throughout Islam’s murderous history throughout Asia and Africa and southern Europe.
It is Muslims who destroy all traces of non-Muslims and their culture as seen clearly in Afghanistan where all Buddhists who once lived there (and lived there for centuries before the murderous prophet Mohammed was born) all Buddhists have been eliminated (genocide) and not their historical remnants like the ancient Banyem Buddhas have also been destroyed.
it is Islam which is the ultimate “bad neighbor” throughout the world.

First I’ll deal with the article. 62 year conflict? Not exactly try a 2000 year conflict. Secondly what about the Palestinian human rights abuses? Bus bombings, Kidnappings, Missle attacks on Isreali Civilians. How could you leave these out? If your article is true then you much be a BIG supporter of the Iraq war. How could you not be with your steadfast defense of human rights. I mean Saddam Hussein openly mass murdered his own people. So if you are so against Isreal who has done nothing compared to Hussein then you must whole heartedly support our invasion of Iraq. Some how I think though thats not the case.
@G
Nice name. any way to deal with some of your complaints. If the inhabitants of Gaza were more peaceful, then Isreal would end its occupation. Rockets continue to be launched into isreal from southern Lebanon. Is it not in Isreal’s best interest to keep that area under survalience. As we’ve seen Isreal does not need a reason to invade Lebanon, they can do it when they want to. If rockets were being launched across the Mexico-US border don’t you think the US would have the right to act? And that “extajudicial” hit? You mean the assasination of a terrorist? Was it the Isrealis who refuse to share the holy land with the Palestinians? Oh no it was the other way around. Isreal the ultimate “bad neighbor”? May I remind you how many Islamic countries attacked Isreal when it was formed? how about in the wars that followed? Isreal was attacked without provication. We must not forget how Isreal’s experiences in the past have effected its modernday policies.

(IsraelNN.com) The Turkish IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation announced that a fleet of 20 ships would be sent to break Israel’s embargo on Hamas-run Gaza two months from now. Five of the ships will be under the auspices of IHH; the support of charitable businessmen in Turkey is being sought for funding to purchase them.

IHH was founded in 1992 to provide humanitarian aid to Bosnia, and later extended its reach to “deliver foodstuff, clothes and tents to crisis regions hit by wars, conflicts, and natural disaster to meet urgent needs of victims.”
However, it has now added political intervention to its agenda, vowing that its “aid ships will continue to head for Gaza until Israeli embargo is lifted.”
The cargo ships are to carry “Israeli-embargoed building materials, generators, medication, medical equipment and educational materials.” In addition, passenger ships accompanying the cargo ships are scheduled to carry “journalists, human rights advocates, activists and lawmakers from various countries.”
Comment: That Israel has embargoed “…building materials, generators, medication, medical equipment and educational materials” bound for besieged Gaza shows the true colors of its government, and those colors can only be characterized as nastily ugly.

We know, through the revelations of Mordechai Vannunu, coupled with statements from former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and former US President Jimmy Carter, that Israel does have nukes.
Iran, as a signatory to the NNPT, has their nuclear program inspected by the IAEA to insure that the program is used only for peaceful purposes.
Israel, on the other hand, which has nukes, refuses to become a signatory to the NNPT, and therefore will allow no inspections of their nuclear facilities.
Under the provisions of the Syminton Amendment in US law, it is stipulated that the US cannot give any financial or military aid to countries which do have nuclear programs which are not under the control of the IAEA.
And what does this mean for We the Taxpayers? That every cent of the the nearly 3 billion dollars in aid we pay Israel every year, from the time of their having obtained nuclear weapons, was given to Israel illegally.

WASHINGTON, Feb 29, 2008 (IPS) – The George W. Bush administration has long pushed the “laptop documents” – 1,000 pages of technical documents supposedly from a stolen Iranian laptop – as hard evidence of Iranian intentions to build a nuclear weapon. Now charges based on those documents pose the only remaining obstacles to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declaring that Iran has resolved all unanswered questions about its nuclear programme.

But those documents have long been regarded with great suspicion by U.S. and foreign analysts. German officials have identified the source of the laptop documents in November 2004 as the Mujahideen e Khalq (MEK), which along with its political arm, the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), is listed by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist organisation.
There are some indications, moreover, that the MEK obtained the documents not from an Iranian source but from Israel’s Mossad.

4. Iran’s formal notification to the IAEA of the planned construction of the backup fuel-rod facility underscores that Iran is playing by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which Iran has signed.
5. Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.
6. Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran’s announcement. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran’s notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel’s claims to “know” that Iran is a nuclear threat.
7. The IAEA and all 16 United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in agreement that Iran is not building and does not possess nuclear weapons.
8. In 1986, Mordachai Vanunu blew the whistle and provided photographs showing Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons factory underneath the reactor at Dimona.
9. Israel made the same accusations against Iraq that it is making against Iran, leading up to Israel’s bombing of the power station at Osirik. Following the invasion of 2003, international experts examined the ruins of the power station at Osirik and found no evidence of a clandestine weapons factory in the rubble.
10. The United Nations has just released the Goldstone Report, a scathing report which accuses Israel of 37 specific war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this year. Israel has denounced the report as “Anti-Semitic (even though Judge Goldstone is himself Jewish), and the United States will block the report from being referred to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, thereby making the US Government an accessory after-the-fact.

No doubt we can trust every word out of the mass murderering politicians who govern Iran. Of course this cannot be guaranteed for all the homosexuals hung in Iran, or the Bahais who have been murdered or who are rotting away in Iranian jails. Otherwise I am confident we can trust these psycopaths, at least as far as you could throw one of their nuclear bombs.

G is right we need to write about what countries agree to sign, or not. Here goes…
Our western civilization is defined by the values which are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These values are, in short:

Here is what John Wesely wrote about Islam more than 300 years ago.
“Ever since the religion of Islam appeared in the world, the espousers of it…have been as wolves and tigers to all other nations, rending and tearing all that fell into their merciless paws, and grinding them with their iron teeth; that numberless cities are raised from the foundation, and only their name remaining; that many countries, which were once as the garden of God, are now a desolate wilderness; and that so many once numerous and powerful nations are vanished from the earth! Such was, and is at this day, the rage, the fury, the revenge, of these destroyers of human kind.” —John Wesley (1703-1791) Methodist leader

Here is what Thomas Jefferson dealt with more than 200 years ago because of Islam.
In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to negotiate with Tripoli’s envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). Upon inquiring “concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury”, the ambassador replied:

It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy’s ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once. Jefferson reported the conversation to Secretary of State John Jay, who submitted the Ambassador’s comments and offer to Congress. Jefferson argued that paying tribute would encourage more attacks.

In the neighborhood of the Middle East, it is the 22 Arab countries that bully their beyond-chauvinistic laws against all women, and all religious & ethnic minorities. This unaccounted for systemic injustice intimidates, mafia-style, women, minorities, and the few remaining moderates into “dhmmi”-status (3rd class) citizens.
The majority of the world’s oil wealth is owned by these 22 morally 7th-century countries. The money that Human Rights’ Watch gets from such places is shockingly hypocritical to the casual observer.

http://gayandright.blogspot.com/2009/07/human-rights-watch-visits-saudi-arabia.html
The 22 oppressive Arab countries legitimize radicalism and terror, particularly for “Palestinian”-Arabs, who are still treated as refugees in the numerous Arab countries they went to, after their hope and aid in the Jewish state’s annihilation didn’t come to pass. It is the “Palestinian” elected terror-government of Hamas and Egypt which will not allow the people in Aza (Gaza) to easily leave. Israel left Aza, even though they have more claim to it historically (4000 years of Jewish history in the land), and diplomatically (won in defensive war from Egypt in 1967) than anyone. It is Israel which refuses to commit suicide by taking on Auschwitz borders of 8 miles wide, by giving “Palestinians” Judea (where the word for a “Jew” comes from, since that is the Jewish people’s 4000 year homeland). The 2 state solution lies in Jordan where “Palestiians” are already an overwhelming 80% majority, and it is land that is 78% of the Palestine Mandate! Hizbollah, a unanimous international terrorist organization funded by the Ayatollahs of Iran, has de=facto taken over Lebanon. It isnt just the rapidly dwindling Christian population (the majority for 1900 years and now less than 15% due to Hizbollah persecution), by ignoring commands of even the Arab-biased UN, Hizbollah (Iran) places all of Lebanon in jeopardy in the event of war.Rachel, Leah, Sarah, Jacob, Issac, etc., are the founding fathers and mothers of the Jewish people, yet, according to the blind leading the blind, the Jeiwsh state is not allowed to lay claim to the founders of it’s people & faith 4000 years ago?
“G” you might want to cut back on the hate, it will help advance REAL peace, not a peace of paper… Much of the rest of what you say is better suited for fictitious tabloids and packing material.

Does “G” stand for Guida? Or does it stand for Grand obsessive compulsive hate disorder?
While you making lists of your heroes (who all happen to be arch terrorists from the 70’s and 80s), why not include the Nuremburg Nazi trials where 10 of hitler’s closest henchman were hung.

Maybe you should include those Nazis in your list of heroes too?

G probably stands for either Goebbels or Ghaddifi.
Lobo077 Like John Wesley and the following gentleman you are an Islamophobe and I consider that a real compliment.

“Bolshevism combines the characteristics of the French Revolution with those of the rise of Islam…. Marx has taught that Communism is fatally predestined to come about; this produces a state of mind not unlike that of the early successors of Mahommet…. Among religions, Bolshevism is to be reckoned with Mohammedanism, rather than with Christianity and Buddhism. Christianity and Buddhism are primarily personal religions, with mystical doctrines and a love of contemplation. Mohammedanism and Bolshevism are practical, social, unspiritual, concerned to win the empire of this world.” —Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) Liberal icon
