Schmidly recovers, returns as UNM president
UNM President David Schmidly is back at his post after almost six months of absence spent recovering from operations on an abdominal tumor.
On Monday, doctors cleared President Schmidly to return to his duties at the University, and Schmidly said it’s good to be back.
“My doctors cleared me to return to work…which has been my wish for the New Year,” he said in a University-wide e-mail. “Needless to say, I am looking forward to returning to the President’s office and my duties.”
Schmidly also extended his thanks to those who kept UNM running smoothly during his absence and aided in his recovery, including Acting President Paul Roth, the regents, staff, faculty, students and his medical team.
Roth said in an e-mail that he will return to his role as Executive Vice President of the Health Sciences Center, but that it was an honor to fill in for Schmidly.
“Having had the chance to meet with many of the faculty, staff and students on main campus, I am very optimistic about the future of our institution,” he said.
Regent President Raymond Sanchez also issued a University-wide statement welcoming Schmidly back and thanking Roth for his service.
“Dr. Roth’s impact on UNM’s future, relative to the looming fiscal crisis, has been significant and greatly appreciated,” Sanchez said.
Despite missing the entire fall semester and graduation in May 2010, Schmidly welcomes the new semester and the New Year.
“I know that we are happy to put 2010 behind us and welcome in 2011,” he said.

This guy insists on continually stealing from the people of New Mexico as well as the students. His mediocre stints at OSU and Tech should have been enough to realize this crook had little or nothing to contribute to UNM. But like the masochists we are, we’ll continue to get screwd by he and the other lowlifes we must deal with ( Locksley & Krebs until we’re dead and these useless pigs will continue to endure. A most unfortunate situation.

Thus squelching the rumor that Schmidly was not coming back (dang it!)

If Schmidley, Krebs, or Locksley had any sense of decency or honor, they would all step down and resign ASAP, but of course, they don’t have any.

The lawsuit goes on to claim Schmidly’ son was subsequently hired by Flintco “as quid pro pro.”

Yes, it’s an outrage, but editor: you might want to remove the clearly copyrighted article.

It is good to hear that the Schmid is back at working causing shit to happen. I would guess the UNM campus has been boring without him, but now things should get back to normal. Maybe for good measure, he will arbitrarily eliminate a bunch of programs and transfer money to the football program. Maybe he can also begin working on plans to upgrade and expand the football stadium to seat 75,000 or 100,00 people and give the contracts to Flintco. After all, they are well qualified to work with the Schmit.
I look forward to reading the on-line Daily Lobo to see the latest exploits of the Schmid crew. With him back, the new change should SCREW THE LOBOS.

No doubt Flintco is glad the Schmid is back so they can get some more big contracts. Hopefully they are generous with the Schmid.

Schmidley will not be around for much longer, maybe a year or two. Governor Martinez will begin to discharge the UNM regent democrats and replace them with people who prioritize education and finance instead of graff and politics.

Back in 2011 for more greed, covetousness; shame and embarrassment for our university “UNM President David Schmidly denied any wrongdoing in deciding to award an Oklahoma-based contractor a $60 million contract to renovate The Pit.”
