UNM President Robert Frank putts during the opening ceremony of the North Campus golf course Friday afternoon. Representatives from the University, Bernalillo County and the north campus neighborhood gathered to celebrate course renovations. Frank said the improvements will help with water conservation and demonstrate effective collaboration between the University, the county and the surrounding community. “We’re thrilled that we reached this accomplishment,” he said. “We have many more accomplishments that we want to do with Bernalillo County in the future.” Tim Davis, vice president of the North Campus Neighborhood Association, said the project should save millions of gallons of water. Golf course revenue has gone up 30 percent this year, he said, with an average of 500 people per day using the area. “A significant piece of the identity of the UNM campus is in the process of being restored,” he said.
