Between Classes

For my photo essay, I decided to photograph the UNM campus through not only my camera lens, but also my phone. The main purpose of this photo series was, instead of going through the motions of daily student life myself, to observe my surrounding and see what other people are experiencing. Throughout my series there are many active people around the University, and as a transfer student, I wanted to experience and capture these moments.These moments were not planned, as I let the subjects in the photos go about their daily lives while I captured the moments. This series will continue on Instagram under the hashtag “#BetweenClassesU.” I hope others will join in and capture these rare moments around the University of New Mexico and post their photos as well. 

Lobos Defeat Pilots in First Round NCAA

The Lobos men's soccer team celebrates as they score a penalty kick against the University of Portland Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Lobos defeated the Pilots after nine rounds of penalty kicks and will advance to the second round of NCAA Championships.

New Mexico Head Football Coach Bob Davie celebrates achieving bowl eligibility after defeating the Nevada Wolfpack on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at University Stadium. The Lobos beat the wolf pack 35-26 early morning around 1 a.m. due to a weather delay that shut off the power to Branch Field.

Trump Returns to ABQ

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held his second rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Atlantic Aviation near the Albuquerque Sun Port Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. Tump was welcomed by hundreds of supporters in a converted air craft hanger, along with opposition groups inside the rally and out. Trumps last visit to Albuquerque sparked riots between protestors and Albuquerque Police Department officers. 

UNM Seal Submissions

On Sept. 22, we asked Daily Lobo readers to submit their own designs for potential new versions of UNM's official seal, which local groups have been calling for, alleging that the current seal is offensive. Here is what we have received since then. Any other submissions received for the rest of the semester can be added to this gallery. The All Kinds Festival, hosted by Humbird NM founders Josh Stuyvesant and Kyle Ruggles, took over fourth street on Saturday, welcoming Albuquerque’s creative giants to reign supreme. In addition to five large art installations, the promise of live music, galleries and spoken word snaked through various downtown locations. Whether it was jazz at Deep Space Coffee, pop-up local vendors at Sister Bar, the Reptilian lounge or a Canne film showing at Kimo theatre, there was something for everyone to check out.
