TCU couldn’t survive a five-goal onslaught from the women’s soccer team, to the Lobos’ disappointment, said defender Zaneta Wyne. “The first half they came out really hard,” she said.

The last of the undefeated

The Lobo Men’s Soccer team is the last undefeated squad in the nation. The No.5 team is the only team in the country yet to lose a game after No.1 University of Connecticut, lost 2-0 on Wednesday to West Virginia. The Lobos are currently 11-0-2, and go one the road to face Seattle University on Friday.

Messy win reminder to excel

It wasn’t a pretty finish, but a win is a win. After putting away six goals on Friday in its 6-0 win over Denver University, UNM could only muster a one-point victory as it beat Air Force 1-0 yesterday, to take them to 11-0-2 for the season. The only goal came in the first half as senior Lance Rozeboom was taken down in the box and converted the penalty kick. “I am proud of the guys for grinding it out,” Rozeboom said.

Smarter tactics lead to wins

The UNM men’s soccer team is once again among the nation’s elite programs. In the last few years, the Lobos have had some great team lineups but have not lived up to their hype.

Turning losses into experience

The UNM women’s soccer team has the chance to put an inconsistent season behind it when it faces UNLV on Saturday. The Lobos took a nose dive midway through the season after they lost three games in a row, but they bounced back with a four game unbeaten streak, including three wins and a tie to San Diego State University (SDSU) last week.

Victory colored by lost opportunities

The UNM men’s soccer team has finished its non-conference schedule undefeated. The Lobos, ranked No.11 in the nation, beat Loyola Marymount 2-0 on Friday night to take UNM to 6-0-2 for the season. Forward Devon Sandoval took over the game in the second half, providing the assist for midfielder Giovanni Rollie’s goal before scoring one of his own with a volley.

Belated goal ends fight for win

The UNM women’s soccer team scored late, but still beat the Sooners on Friday. The game looked to be headed to overtime after Oklahoma’s Dria Hampton tied the game with 10 minutes left, but Lobo forward Jennifer Williams scored her second goal of the game with five minutes remaining to beat the Sooners 2-1. “We fought the whole entire game,” Williams said.

Arkon next in winning streak?

As Lobo football prepares to face powerhouse Texas Tech on Saturday it isn’t the only UNM team gearing up to play a ranked opponent on national television. The No. 16 ranked UNM men’s soccer team faces No. 4 Akron tonight in Akron, Ohio, on national television on the Fox Soccer Channel at 5 p.m.

Goalie aids winning streak

The UNM men’s soccer team has only allowed two goals this season — but there could have been nine more if it wasn’t for Victor Rodriguez. Rodriguez’s efforts have helped the Lobos earn a 4-0-1 record through the first five games of the season.

Undefeated; Columbia next?

New additions, luck leads to late game win

It would be difficult to have a better start to your Lobo career than Giovanni Rollie’s. A Lobo soccer’s redshirt freshman, Rollie scored his first goal in his first appearance for the Lobos during their 2-0 win Friday night over Towson, the first game of the season, in front of over 2,000 fans.

‘11 team mirrors ‘05 glory

It’s been a disappointing few years for the Lobo men’s soccer team. For most teams, making it to the NCAA tournament almost every year would be a reason to celebrate, but not for the Lobos. UNM has been a perennial national powerhouse since head coach Jeremy Fishbein took the helm in 2001, and the team has made the NCAA tournament five times in the past six years.

Iowan leads team to battle

Lobo Men’s soccer midfielder Lance Rozeboom has done his fair share of traveling, but this will be his last season traveling with the UNM men’s soccer team. Hailing from Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rozeboom logged six starts as a true freshman and has been a multiple all-conference teamer (both first and second team) in the past two years.
