With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the hustle and bustle may seem to revolve around what gifts to buy and where to eat dinner, but don’t forget to look the part. For many, the special occasion requires a tie for the right look.

Levi Turner, a senior biochemistry major, said he often wears ties and suggested two knots: the simple Windsor Knot and the more complicated Eldritch Knot.

Windsor Knot

Step 1: Place tie around your neck making sure the wider end (the head) is slightly longer than the smaller end (the tail).

Step 2: Cross the head end in front of the tail wrap it all the way around.

Step 3: Pull the head upward and tuck it through the loop at the top.

Step 4: Adjust and tighten to preference.

Eldritch Knot

Step 1: Place the tie around your neck with the head facing left and the tail right, make sure the head is hanging slightly lower than the tail.

Step 2: Wrap the tail over the head and pull through the loop from underneath. Do this twice.

Step 3: Wrap the tail again, going from left to right, but keep the knot loose.
