It took nearly an entire season, but the New Mexico women’s basketball team finally won a road game with a victory over Air Force 76-62 on Tuesday night.
Prior to the victory, UNM (10-18, 5-12 Mountain West) had amassed a 0-10 road record.
UNM pulled away from AF in the second half, leading by as many as 17. The Falcons did manage to cut the deficit to nine points with 3:16 left but never really threatened the Lobos’ lead.
Forward Khadijah Shumpert paced the Lobos with 19 points along with eight boards. Guard Antisha Brown had 17 points, while forward Deeva Vaughn scored 12 points.
The Falcons (1-26, 0-17 MW) had three double digit scorers of their own with guard Jimi Blagowsky’s game-high 20 points. Forward Missy Byrd was second on the team with 14.
The Lobos host San Diego State on Friday for their regular-season finale.
