On Sept. 29, UNM Police Department took a report in reference to harassment and battery.

According to the report, a student brought cupcakes to a UNM sponsored event that the Duck Pond hosted sometime between Sept. 8 and Sept. 25. Another student that the victim did not know smashed one of the cupcakes in the victim’s face. The victim reported he was told the suspect had “mental health problems” and accepted an apology from the suspect after the event. Later, the victim learned that the suspect had been “stalking” one of his female friends who had turned him down. On Sept. 25, the victim received a harassing Facebook message from the suspect. UNMPD informed the victim to contact UNMPD if there were any further encounters with the suspect.

On Sept. 29, UNMPD took a report in reference to graffiti.

According to the report, the phrase “Killing babies since 1972!” was written on a parking space reserved for the Women’s Resource Center. According to an employee of the center, the subject matter is related to heated discussions on social media.

On Oct. 7, UNMPD took a report in reference to harassment.

According to the report, the victim broke up with her boyfriend about a year ago. The suspect has been trying to contact the victim through calls, text and email after he was advised by the victim not to contact her. The victim feels threatened and will pursue a restraining order to avoid physical contact from the suspect. Both parties are students. UNMPD will continue to investigate the case by interviewing the suspect and contacting the dean of students in reference to violation of the code of student conduct by the suspect.

On Oct. 14, UNMPD reported and responded to harassment of a student.

According to the report, the student had broken up with her boyfriend in September. The subject continued to contact her through unsolicited text messages, voicemail, Facebook and in-person after the student asked to end all contact. The context of the messages and contact was non-threatening. UNMPD contacted the subject by phone and advised that he needed to cease trying to contact the student. The subject was surprised that police were involved and said that he was only trying to rekindle the relationship and would end all contact. The student did not want to pursue changes.

On Oct. 16, UNMPD was dispatched to Lobo Village in reference to domestic violence.

According to the report, the victim was punched in the mouth by his girlfriend while driving to Lobo Village. The couple then went to their separate apartments. The victim stated that the suspect had been drinking. UNMPD reported the victim had a bloody lip and issued a non-traffic citation for domestic violence battery against a household member to the victim’s girlfriend.
