Web Exclusive: Jeffords right to stand up to bullies

I could not be more proud of Senator Jeffords of Vermont. It is encouraging to know that independent, thoughtful people exist in Washington who place the needs of their country and constituents ahead of the needs of the Republican or Democratic Parties.

To be punished for such convictions because they don't fall in line with the administration's agenda is wrong.

It is always gratifying to witness someone with the courage to take on a bully. The bullying tactics of Bush/Cheney did not work. Jeffords pushed back hard, and I hope all Americans, regardless of political affiliation are grateful.
