Staff Report
Three bus stops on North Campus will close indefinitely Nov. 1 for construction.
The stops service Q and G lots and the Redondo shuttles.
They will close during construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Camino de Salud and Yale Boulevard, said Deirdre Markham, spokeswoman for Parking and Transportation Services.
"There is really nowhere to safely drop off students during construction," she said. "Students should use the bus stops at Tucker and Yale or the Duck Pond."

One stop is at the intersection of Camino de Salud and Yale Boulevard. The other two are north and west of the intersection.
Construction is scheduled to finish in January.
Markham said she is unsure when the bus stops will be replaced.
Q and G lots have two stops on Tucker Avenue north of Camino de Salud. Students can use those as alternate stops.
Once construction is complete, UNM will find the best places to put bus stops, Markham said.
"There are many factors to consider," she said. "Safety is, of course, important, but traffic flow and access points need to be considered, too."
The stops are used to access UNM Hospital and all North Campus facilities, Markham said.
Signs are posted at the affected stops to inform students of locations of closures and alternate bus stops, she said.
"I want students to call me if they need more information about which stops are available or need help planning alternate routes," she said.
Student Amy Vigil, who uses the Q Lot shuttles, said the construction and closures make commuting difficult.
"Parking is ridiculous as it is, and now they're closing this," she said. "Students already plan an extra 10 minutes into their schedule to accommodate the new route, but now they have to plan even more time."
Vigil said the Camino de Salud and Yale Boulevard intersection is busy, and she doesn't expect the traffic circle to ease the problem.
"It's just going to get more complicated," she said. "I think Parking and Transportation should have thought about doing this over the summer to ease the inconvenience to students. We're paying for all this."
