Cops Briefs

Jan. 3

A male patient at UNM Mental Health Center assaulted a female health care worker in his room. A witness said the woman tried to give the man his medication, but the man refused and became angry. He punched her on the right side of her head. The woman's right eyebrow was bruised and swollen. No further information was available.

Jan. 7

A man was assaulted after he asked another man to move his vehicle behind Zimmerman Library. The victim said a man parked his truck in the middle of the street north of Zimmerman Library. The victim said that since the truck was blocking the road, he went around the truck and parked his car. After parking, he told the man in the pickup to turn on his hazard lights if he was going to park in the middle of the street. The man got out of his truck and pushed the victim. He then threatened to kill the victim if he didn't leave. The victim left immediately and reported the incident.

Jan. 10

A UNM Police officer went to the UNM Hospital parking structure because a woman threatened to jump off the top level. The officer asked the woman if she needed help, but she would not respond. The officer continued to talk to the woman until she agreed to come down from the side of the building. She was taken to UNM Mental Health Center for evaluation.

Jan. 17

A UNM Police officer went to Clark Hall after a man was attacked in a stairwell. The victim said he was walking down the stairs when a male transient said something to him. The victim said he ignored the man and continued walking. The man tried to trip the victim when he wasn't looking. He then tried punching the victim. The victim ducked and avoided the punch. The man taunted the victim by saying, "Go ahead and try something." The victim said the man then left the building. Police officers were unable to find the man.
