The UNM Cardiology Clinic opens this week, giving Westside residents access to a full range of cardiovascular diagnostic services. The clinic will be staffed by a team of board-certified cardiologists and specialized technicians. Cardiologist Robert Dubroff serves as lead physician, along with UNM faculty cardiologist Abinash Achrekar, who is on staff.
The clinic will bolster the services already offered by a facility located on Lomas Boulevard between University and Girard.
UNM’s cardiology team was recognized with a 2010 Gold Plus Medal from the American Heart Association. The award is the highest designation given to hospitals that consistently follow up-to-date guidelines when caring for cardiac patients.
Additionally, UNM hospital is the highest-ranked academic hospital in the nation for heart attack treatment response time, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the University Health System Consortium.
