Members of the UNM chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, an intercollegiate fraternity for African-American students, practice stepping near Mesa Vista Hall on Monday. Stepping is a style of dance that involves heavy stomps and lively claps. The six pairs of feet, which have been stepping since 2003, moved to chants from the dancers as the fraternity members rehearsed for the African American Student Services Welcome Back BBQ that will be held at Mesa Vista Courtyard West Thursday night. The event will be open to the public.
