Alex Petersburg chanted among a crowd in front of the UNM Bookstore on Saturday afternoon. Petersburg and other members of StopPatriarchy.org protested against the proposed abortion ordinance banning late-term abortion in Albuquerque. The group chanted, “Abortion on demand without apology” to passers-by and handed out fliers and stickers.

Rachel Williams, 20, a junior at UNM and political science and international studies double major, sat in on an ASUNM Senate candidate chat Monday morning. Williams is running for re-election and serves on the ASUNM Finance Committee. She and nine fellow senate candidates form Aspire for ASUNM, one of the three slates of students who will run for election starting Thursday.

The LGBTQ Resource Center hosted a candlelight vigil at the Duck Pond on Tuesday night to honor transgendered murder victims on the Transgender Day of Remembrance. The vigil featured luminarias to represent transgendered people who have been murdered within the last year. Of the 265 people murdered, five were from New Mexico.

To commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance, the center will hold a candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. at the Duck Pond in honor of transgender lives both living and past.
