Donald Trump was scheduled to come on stage at 7 p.m. For 15 minutes, the crowd waited anxiously, collectively raises their phones at every break in the music.

Luigi Morrone is a fourth year exchange student from Rome, Italy. He is at the University of New Mexico for the fall 2019 semester but he studies Nutrition/Dietetics at Tor Vergata University in Rome. “My favorite part about New Mexico so far has been the beautiful outdoors, and Balloon Fiesta,” Morrone said.
Donald Trump spoke for about an hour. For the most part, Santa Ana Star Center stayed full throughout the president’s rally. Some supporters trickled out during the nearly three hour speech.
Cai Thomas is a third year student from the University of Exeter in South West England where he has studied Physics. One of his favorite experiences in New Mexico so far has been camping at Wheeler Peak, north of Taos. “I really have loved the outdoors and the weather so far here in New Mexico, because it’s actually NOT raining all the time,” Thomas said.
Hours before the Trump spoke, supporters and protestors caught each others attention. This exchange revolved around who is responsible for welfare.
Alessa Fabienne Brock is a fourth-year student from the University of Duisburg-Essen located in Duisburg, Germany. This is her second semester at the University of New Mexico, where she studies management and economics. “So far, my favorite part about New Mexico has been meeting so many great new people, the food and the beauty of the desert,” Brock said.
Sonder Waardenburg is a fourth year student from Haarlem, Netherlands. He is attending the University of New Mexico for Fall 2019 semester and is from Vrije University in Amsterdam. “My favorite experiences in New Mexico so far have been meeting new people, the amazing new experiences, and I have had an amazing time with UNM club tennis. If you have a chance, go on an exchange to discover yourself and the world,” Waardenburg said.
