Sara Rivera plays the violin, writes stories and poetry, performs in theater and sculpts when she gets the chance. Right now, she said she is focused on environmentally themed art that leaks into all disciplines of her artwork. In addition to her multi-talented art skills, she is also a tennis instructor during the summer.

Graham Gentz is a modern-day Renaissance man in the vein of the Shakespearean characters he portrays. Gentz, a junior majoring in creative writing and astrophysics, is an aspiring scientist, actor, screenwriter and director. He’s one of the actors in the Summer Shakespeare Festival. Also, he likes climbing trees.

Sophomore Alexis Pavlantos has a penchant for pendants and other forms of jewelry. She said her work tends to appeal to older women, but it’s not exclusively geared toward an older crowd. She considers it a compliment because older women have seen more exotic jewelry than she has in her lifetime. Pavlantos said she’s looking forward to heading to San Francisco next year, where she expects her art to flourish.

Every now and then I’ll dine alone. I might see people I know that I could eat with or chat with. But I still choose to be alone. Let me reassure you this column is not the beginning of a suicide note but a reflection on introverts and the prickly effect on the extroverted population.
