Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly discusses his economic development plan for the nationwide Navajo community Monday night at Zimmerman Library’s Willard Room. Shelly, who is the first New Mexican president of the Navajo Nation, said he plans to push for technological development as well as sustainable energy development on reservations. Shelly also spoke of young Navajo outreach, encouraging students to have a voice regarding politics and to vote during elections. The event was organized by Beta Sigma Epsilon, a Native American fraternity on campus.

Davis Tucker learned that men should not be afraid to seek aid from others during his 1,400-mile trip from Austin, TX. to Denver, CO. “Probably the biggest thing I’ve learned in this trip is that it’s OK to get help,” Davis said Monday while taking a break at Marble Brewery.
Tony Drewry, the driver of the trip’s van, said he decided to accompany Tucker for the thrill of it and for the good cause. “Anywhere we parked, stopped for gas, this bus, people want to talk about it,” Drewry said. “It’s a great opportunity to get people talking about prostate cancer.”
A sign at Marble Brewery advertises Tucker’s Austin-to-Denver ride. Proceeds from the beer sold at the brewery on September 30 during Tucker’s visit in Albuquerque went to righting prostate cancer.
