For the second straight year, the Chicago Bulls selected a former New Mexico Lobo in the NBA draft.
Power forward Cameron Bairstow went to the Bulls as a second round selection, going as the No. 49 overall selection. Chicago picked guard Tony Snell with the 20th pick last season.
UNM’s two other players eligible for the draft, guard Kendall Williams and center Alex Kirk, were not drafted. New Mexico State’s Sim Bhullar was not selected, either.
Bairstow won the Mountain West Basketball Championship MVP award after helping the Lobos to the tournament championship. Bairstow and San Diego State’s Xavier Thames battled for the top regular-season award, but Thames took those honors.
Thames was drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the 59th overall selection.
