Stop whining about lefty columns and write for us

Dear readers,

As I am fond of saying, I worship the conversation we can create on this opinion page, but, alas, I have noticed this conversation is a bit one-sided.

Let’s not play, okay? You know it. I know it. The Tralfamadorians know it. In short, everyone knows the letters and column in this publication tend to lean to the left.

I don’t know where it comes from. Personally, I am a devoted “Stay the hell out of the political conversation as best as I can, lest I become one of those crazy screaming partisan people,” type.
But for some reason, the majority of letters we receive lean to the left.

We have oft been criticized for favoring the left. I’d disagree. I would say people in favor of “liberal” ideals are just the ones writing the letters. I am dying for someone from the other side of the conversation to respond.

I believe a one-sided conversation is the worst type of conversation you could ever have, dear readers.

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, we live in an echo chamber. Anything we believe, we can find echoed somewhere in the mass media, and this sort of perpetual echoing does nothing to enrich our lives. In fact, I would say it’s like trying to grow plants out of soil that has long since been depleted.

Accordingly, in an effort to replenish our conversational soil, I am calling out to the people who accuse us of being a left-leaning liberal rag to send us letter so we can balance ourselves out, and just be a rag in general.

Some of you might be in disbelief. Test me. Send me a letter as to why driver’s licenses shouldn’t be given to undocumented immigrants. Or better yet, send me a letter against government support-programs. Or how about a letter in favor of privatization of government agencies?

I swear, and let this column be the proof that holds me accountable, I will publish any letter that goes against so-called “left” ideals. As long as the letter isn’t blatantly racist or offensive without reason, I will publish it.

So, readers, let’s hear that other side of the conversation. There’s soil in dire need of tilling.

Hey LouLou, thanks, I do try to point out the humour in things, especially politics/race relations, etc. Don’t be too hard on quintana, he’s a lib and doesn’t know better and just can’t help it. And if he actually spent time TRYING to do some journalism, he wouldn’t need to try to get citizens/students of a more conservative/libertarian bent to write letters/columns to counter his/staff’s leftist cant. If only he had the ability to see the irony in this . . .

I actually thought this was some of that horrendous ‘satire’ that idiot prof writes that gets all the fan adoration before I realized it was serious. I love how it expresses ‘we don’t choose to be left leaning…it’s just more lefty types write us’ then he fills the rest in with back-handed slaps to the ‘right side’ people he’s courting to write a letter.

Don’t be racist or offensive…of course everyone knows righties can’t communicate any other way.

Tell us what you feel about (insert a bunch of topics that are sterotypical righty taalking points). As if right leaning people are all only caught up in social policing or profit driven beliefs.

Believe it or not there are some right leaning people who don’t like racism, offensive for the sake of offensive and who concern themselves more about social issues (license/program), profits/business, or policing peoples bedrooms.

Begging for editors, writers, readers, and as I see from the cancellation of some major online advertisers like the Frontier, the Daily Loser seems like it’s on the last and final episodes. Blame yourself Losers since you ARE a Leftist Rag which spent the whole last semester on the unoccupy movement which has now been exposed as an Obama and Democrat anarchy against anyone and everyone who tries to succeed by making money.

If I wanted to be called “Yul”, I’d do it myself. Though, I suppose it’s polite of you to ask first. Head didn’t explode, sorry. I listen to Rush, Hannity, et al. time permitting, so my disdain is based on first-hand experience.

As far as being some sort of leftist “weasel” goes, I’m afraid not. My disenchantment with dems/libs is nearly equal to that I feel for repubs/cons. The only difference is that dems/libs don’t actively persecute me.
