Band of Horses gives me mixed feelings. Seeing it in concert last week affirmed that, unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong — its unique brand of folk-indie-rock has warmed my being on multiple occasions.
Listening to music with no beat or lyrics might not be for everyone, but it certainly is an experience. On Monday evening I attended a show at Synchro Studio, where several local musicians performed innovative, ambient music.
I’ve never attended the famous music and film festival South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, but because of its proximity to Albuquerque, some of the bands stopped by Sister Bar on their way out.
On Saturday, I could find no better remedy to a hard week than a cold drink and the soft sounds of Saudade when the four-person band played a mix of classic and modern Brazilian music at Yanni’s Mediterranean Grill and Opa Bar on Central Avenue.
