Editor,
This is a letter regarding Jeremy Reynalds' column on Friday.
Actually, it is regarding every column that Reynalds writes. My concern about Reynalds is that in every single column he writes, he manages to bring up God, Jesus and Christianity with absolute disregard for the diversity of this campus.
For example, Reynalds writes, "No matter how bad and painful our life may be, it still belongs to God and it is not ours to do as we please."
I would not have a problem with this if I had chosen to attend a private catholic school, but I chose to attend a liberal, publicly supported university. I realize that this is an opinion column and Reynalds has every right to his feelings, but does he have to be supported by the school's newspaper that claims to be the "Independent Voice of New Mexico?"
Frankly, I am surprised that this school has not been charged with integrating church with a public institution.
You should be ashamed of yourselves for consistently ignoring letters pleading for Reynalds' harassment of anyone who does not believe in the Christian god to be addressed. This is not a campus of monks or priests. This is a campus of college students getting educations for themselves.
I know I speak for myself and everyone else on campus when I say that we deserve better from a paper that claims to be our voice.
