Web Exclusive: UNM closes in wake of terrorist attacks

Classes and activities at UNM are being cancelled for the remainder of the day beginning at 2 p.m.

UNM employees — except for those who work in critical areas, such as UNM medical facilities — may also leave beginning at 2 p.m. All UNM faculty, staff and students who do not live on campus must leave the UNM campus by 4 p.m.

Beginning at 4 p.m., campus police will require persons attempting to enter UNM buildings to show proof of identification in order to enter University buildings. However, UNM residence halls will remain open for those students who live in them.

UNM President Bill Gordon said the University is sensitive to the security concerns and safety of all faculty, staff, students and campus visitors. He added that in light of today’s events, it is important for members of the University community to be with their family and friends.

UNM will is planning on resuming its normal schedule Wednesday. For University updates, call 277-1669.
