Taking this forum on my last day as Daily Lobo editor, I would like to extend my gratitude to those who have made the past year not only enriching, but bearable.
First and foremost, I would like to thank the Daily Lobo staff members for everything they've done for me during the past four years. Without their support and mentorship, no Daily Lobo editor would make it out sane. So thank you to Jim Fisher, the business manager; Barbara Lovato, the office manager; and Daven Quelle-Sakamoto, the advertising coordinator.
I would also like to thank the advertising staff at the Daily Lobo for working so hard during an economic crunch and still keeping the paper not only afloat, but thriving. These people include Ad Managers Julia Gilroy and Mari Magallanez; and the advertising representatives, Johnyne Barraclough, Ashley Farmer, Maggie Gullick, Erik Kakuska, Kim Krantz, Karl Linzmeyer and Audra Meikeljohn.
Then there's the classified advertising staff, who are the heart of the Lobo. Thanks to Jodi Hunley, the classified ad manager and the classified ad staff members Jessica Adams, Tamara Gaskill and Melanie Roybal.
Big props to our ad production staff Raul Zubiate and Casie Schweiter, as well. Thanks for putting up with my strange sense of humor all year.
A big thank you to the business office staff, Will Fisher, Andrea Martinez, Alicia Valdez and Jennifer Weber.

The computer techs Mike Abney and Doreen Barela put in some major overtime this year. Thanks for keeping us somewhat functional so we can get the paper out.
I also give my deepest gratitude to the editorial part of this newspaper. You guys have had your ups and downs, but made me very proud throughout the year. So thank you to Arthur Simoni, managing editor; Clay Holtzman, news editor; Colin Ley, photo editor; Marisa Demarco, culture editor; Lee Cornell, sports editor; Eric Howerton, Web editor; Ryan Floersheim, assistant news editor; and the staff reporter, Jeff Proctor.
I would also like to thank the copyeditors, Celina and Felice Martinez, Margarita Ortega y Gomez, Cindy Lewis, Emily Williams and Felicia Fonseca. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
Then there's my saving grace: the production staff. Through long hours and bitter rants, we've rocked out to Tool at one in morning and gotten this paper out every single day. I'll miss working with you all. So a big thank you to Design Director Sari Krosinsky; Production Manager Kenn Rodriguez; and the production assistants, Libby Kelly, Aynsley Dickinson and Sierra Netz.
And to former Daily Lobo Writing Coach Henry "Hank" Trewhitt, who died this January: You will always hold a special place in my heart and my words. Thank you for teaching me how to omit needless words. I will never forget you.
Thank you to everyone who has made these past four years such a special experience for me and, finally, a special thanks to the UNM community for supporting your student newspaper. Without your support, this valuable experience would never happen for students.
