Welcome Back! I am excited to see our campus come alive after the summer break. There are many activities this week for us to take part in, so don't waste any time and enjoy the entertainment.
This year, since we, the students, have our Student Union Building back, there are SUB Grand Opening celebrations. The first week of school, the Associated Students of UNM Student Special Events along with the SUB will co-sponsor two large concerts. Vertical Horizon will play on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 at 8 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom. Tickets will be $10.00 for students. In addition, Something Corporate will perform on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003 at 8 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom. Tickets are $8 for students. The doors for both concerts will open at 6:30 p.m. So, hurry and get your tickets at the UNM ticket office or at www.tickets.com.
Furthermore, if you would like to volunteer for either concert, there will be a volunteer meeting today at 3 p.m. in the ASUNM office on the Plaza level of the SUB Room 1064.

Next week the ASUNM SouthWest Film Center, in conjunction with the SUB, will show the movie "Chicago" for free on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Also next week, Rusty Z., the hypnotist, will be performing on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom.
However, the fun already began last night with the first event for "Welcome Back Days." The "Matrix" was shown for free on Johnson Field. If you didn't get a chance to catch the show, don't worry because the SWFC is showing the film for free Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the SUB theater.
"Welcome Back Days" is a time to celebrate the University community and greet students with fun festivities. ASUNM is one of the sponsors for "Welcome Back Days." There will also be booths and vendors near the Duck Pond area. Monday is designated for department and colleges, Tuesday for safety, health and wellness information, Wednesday is designated as women and cultural day, Thursday for student organizations and Friday for community service. There will be free food daily at noon and concerts co-sponsored by SSE all week at the Zimmerman Cactus Garden.
I hope that you will take time to participate in these specially planned events. ASUNM is committed to providing you diverse entertainment. Enjoy!
