Running back keeps eye on education prize

Daily Lobo: If you could meet anyone famous, who would it be and why?

DonTrell Moore: Michael Jordan, because he's an inspiration. I love the man's hard work and his intensity. He brings a lot to the game.

DL: Why do you wear the number 22?

DM: I don't know. I've just worn it since about sixth grade, and it's just been a significant number for me. It's been my favorite number but there is not any more significance to it. I don't like the Cowboys. I've never liked Emmitt Smith, you know, so that's not why I wear it, but it's just the number I wear.

DL: Beyonce or J-Lo?

DM: Beyonce, that isn't even a question. Beyonce has more class.

DL: Yankees or Red Sox?

DM: I hate both of them. I'm a Braves fan, but if I had to pick one, I'd have to go with the Red Sox.

DL: What does it feel like to play a video game and play as yourself? (NCAA 2005)

DM: It's pretty neat. Me and my roommates were talking about it. It's just one of those things that you never thought would happen but now that it's happening it's just neat. Your family calls you. It's just a great experience. It's a neat ordeal.

DL: What is your favorite class at UNM and why?

DM: Probably one of my sociology classes, 218, which was investigative methods. It just taught us how to investigate things. I want to be crime scene investigator, so that was the closest thing to that.

DL: What does a typical school day involve during season?

DM: Wake up about 8 o'clock, 8:30, get into the shower and get to school by nine o'clock and have all your classes constantly, you know, 9:50, 10:50. Every hour you have class, and you're done about 12:30, and then you've got 45 minutes to an hour to get over here and get something to eat and get ready for practice and meetings at 1:30. It's non-stop, you know, from about 8 o'clock to about 7 o'clock every day during the season.

DL: What would you choose: leave college early for a signing bonus or stay and receive your degree?

DM: Stay and receive my degree - it's not even a question. If they both come at the same time maybe that's an option I will explore, but getting my degree is very important to me and that's what I want to do.

DL: What keeps you motivated during a long season of school and football?

DM: The chance to win a conference championship. The chance to help my team. You know, I've been here for three years and we've finished second place two years in a row. So my incentive is, and I think our whole team's incentive is, to win the Liberty Bowl.
