Polls: men's soccer No. 1 in nation

Staff Report

For the first time in history, the UNM men's soccer team is the consensus No. 1 team in the country.

All four national polls ranked the Lobos No. 1 after a week in which they beat Southern Methodist University 2-0 Friday and Tulsa University 2-1 in overtime Sunday in the Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa, Okla.

Tulsa knocked off No. 3-ranked Creighton University on Friday, 1-0.

Before the week, the Lobos were 6-0 and ranked in the top two in every poll, including a No. 1 ranking in Soccer America's Top 25.
