For the first time in history, the UNM men's soccer team is the consensus No. 1 team in the country.
All four national polls ranked the Lobos No. 1 after a week in which they beat Southern Methodist University 2-0 Friday and Tulsa University 2-1 in overtime Sunday in the Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa, Okla.
Tulsa knocked off No. 3-ranked Creighton University on Friday, 1-0.
Before the week, the Lobos were 6-0 and ranked in the top two in every poll, including a No. 1 ranking in Soccer America's Top 25.

With the two wins, UNM's record is 8-0 heading into Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.
Senior Ben Ashwill was named the MPSF Player of the Week for his play against SMU and Tulsa in addition to being named the MVP of the Golden Hurricane Classic.
Ashwill is the third UNM player in four weeks to be named the MPSF Player of the Week.
Senior forward Jeff Rowland was named Player of the Week after the first week of the season in which he scored three goals in two games.
Junior defender Andrew Boyens got the award after scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist in the second week of the season.
