The team's run for a title at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships came to an end on Sunday when junior Nora Quintal was knocked out of the tournament in the semifinals.
She was defeated by Jessica Samosa 6-2, 6-0. Samosa was the tournament's No. 6 seed.
Quintal advanced to the semifinals by defeating Dolly Chang of Brigham Young University in a back-and-forth match that ended 0-6, 7-6, 11-9.
Quintal got off to a fast start in the championships and had perhaps her biggest career victory in the round of 16. In that round, she defeated nationally-ranked Emily Kirchem of Colorado State, 3-6, 6-2, 13-11. Lobo Lucy Scott fell in the round of 32 to Suzanna Maksovic 6-1, 6-3, after having a deep run into the tournament. Maksovic, from Denver University, was the tournament's No. 9 seed.
