Editor,
I feel that outside vendors should be allowed to come back to UNM. The vendors we used to have were a wonderful part of UNM daily life and so much more educational.
I can remember a time when you could walk down the mall at UNM and see people engaged in conversation. Groups of people came to UNM to sell their products - jewelry, dresses, sarongs, books, posters - and believe it or not, they also danced, sang, played music and did many more wonderful things.
To me, the life has gone out of UNM. There isn't any more free spirit. I, for one, would like to see more cultural experiences back at the SUB and on the mall. Even some good old rock 'n' roll would be better than nothing.
We need more events that show students that there is something else on campus to be proud of besides football and basketball. It would be nice to be able to cheer the Lobos at games and tell our friends that UNM has great cultural experiences as well.
