Letter: Circus as cruel to animals as Roman Coliseum acts

Thank you, Richard "Bugman" Fagerlund, for the wonderful reminder in Tuesday's Daily Lobo of why we should all avoid the "gravest show on Earth" - the circus.

The circus is a barbaric ritual no more civilized than the mass slaughter of animals and humans in the Coliseum in ancient Rome.

If anyone feels the need to be entertained by captive animals, I encourage them to donate their time and energy to one of Albuquerque's many animal shelters, where they can both be amused by the antics of dogs and cats awaiting adoption and simultaneously make their stay there more comfortable.
