The UNM softball team was unable to pull out a victory in the final home series of the season Sunday.
The Lobos were swept by San Diego State in a doubleheader at Lobo Field and fell to 21-25 overall, 2-12 in the Mountain West Conference. SDSU improves to 27-8 overall and 12-0 in the MWC, best in the conference.
The Aztecs escaped a close Game 1 by winning 8-6. In Game 2 however, SDSU found its offensive groove and pummeled the Lobos 21-5 in five innings.
Game 1 was tied at 6-6 in the seventh inning before freshman Monica Alnes of SDSU hit a double to propel the Aztecs to an 8-6 victory. SDSU jumped out to a 6-0 lead before UNM senior Cassie Chavez hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to help close the gap.

Chavez finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. UNM's Lindsey Elcess went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
SDSU's Erin Floros went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
In Game 2, the Aztecs scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to take a 19-5 lead. SDSU's Taryin Cassillas and Monica Alnes combined to hit 7-for-9 and knock in 10 RBIs.
The Lobo softball team plays a doubleheader April 28 against Utah in Salt Lake City.
