The UNM volleyball team has found its new head coach.
Lobo Athletic Director Paul Krebs announced Monday that Jeff Nelson will replace Kelley McKee, who resigned after five seasons Dec. 5.
The 43-year-old Nelson comes to UNM after spending four seasons as the head coach at the University of San Francisco and eight seasons at the helm of Texas Tech.
In his 12 years as a head coach, Nelson took six teams to the NCAA Tournament. When Nelson arrived at USF, it had endured 15 straight losing seasons. Under the first year of Nelson's tenure in 2003, the team went 23-8, setting a school record for single-season wins.
