Editor,
I live on campus in the SRCs. Tuesday morning while I was doing some yoga, a cockroach scuttled across the carpet in my bedroom, two inches from my face. I calmly paused my yoga video and got what my roommates and I call "the cockroach catcher" - a designated cup and piece of cardboard we use to catch the roaches so we can take them outside to kill them with Raid. I finished my yoga, grabbed my towel and went to hop in the shower. There was no water. At 7:15 a.m., with no announcement, maintenance had shut off the water to my apartment.
I am relating this story to express the fact that we deal with a lot of crap in the SRCs - including roaches, ants, water that smells like sulfur, doors and windows that do not close properly, piles of trash outside our front door and filthy laundry rooms - and now UNM wants me to live without running water? UNM has some improvements and apologies to make.
