The turnover of head coaches at UNM continues.
Ray Birmingham was named head coach of the Lobo baseball team on June 20.
He signed a five-year contract worth $90,000 per season.
Birmingham spent the past 18 seasons coaching New Mexico Junior College. With the Thunderbirds, he posted a record of 765-255-2. In 20 seasons of coaching, Birmingham has a career record of 818-328-2.

He replaces Rich Alday, who earned his 1,000th career win and 500th win with the Lobos last
season.
At NMJC, Birmingham built a tradition of winning. In addition to his .750 win percentage, he led the Thunderbirds to the 2005 Junior College National Championship, and the team was a runner-up in the championship last year.
Birmingham is the fourth person to be named head coach at UNM since June 14. He joins Joe Franklin (track and cross country), Jill Trujillo (women's golf) and Fredrik Landstedt (skiing).
