The Lobos are losing a player from the UNM men's basketball team but gaining another at a much-needed position.
David Kanyinda spent his freshman season in 2006-07 playing a minimal role for the Lobos. The 6-foot-2-inch guard from Sandia High School averaged 1.5 points per game with UNM last season.
But while Kanyinda is departing, another recruit has agreed to join the UNM program.
Isaiah Rusher - who attended Kashmere High School in Texas last season - has committed to the Lobos for the 2008-09

Because of school issues, the 6-foot-9-inch, 240-pounder will have to finish high school at the Patterson School in North Carolina this year before becoming eligible for Division I.
