Soccer hits road, wins one, loses one

The UNM women's soccer team split two games in Oklahoma to start the 2007

season.

On Friday, the Lobos lost a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime to No. 20 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.

Senior Terryn Granados scored the lone goal for UNM in the sixth minute. Senior Anna Neu was credited with the assist.

The UNM defense held the Cowgirls scoreless for 82 minutes, until the Lobos allowed an own goal to force overtime.

OSU's Niccole Grimaldi scored the game-winner in the 96th minute.

UNM junior goalkeeper Shannon Adragna recorded six saves during the match.

The Lobos rebounded Sunday with a 2-0 win over Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla.

Junior Samantha Bevis scored off a

header from a free kick by junior Hannah Hand in the 48th minute to put the Lobos up 1-0. It was the first career goal for

Bevis.

Sophomore Veronika Strnadova added the insurance goal for UNM in the 65th minute, connecting from the top of

the box.

The Lobos were in control most of the game, outshooting the Golden Hurricanes 20-3 in the contest.

UNM will host Long Island on Friday in the home opener.
