The UNM volleyball team improved to 7-0 on the season and captured the Hilton Phoenix/East Mesa Challenge tournament title on Saturday.
The Lobos opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Big 12 foe Iowa State on Friday, toppling the Cyclones 32-30, 30-28, 30-22.
In the second match, the Lobos battled their way to a 28-30, 30-21, 22-30, 30-26, 15-11 win over Arizona State in five games.
UNM clinched the title with a 3-1 win over Northern Arizona, topping the Lumberjacks 30-24, 30-17, 28-30, 30-26.

Junior outside hitter Jeanne Fairchild was named the tournament's most valuable player for the second tournament in row, while junior middle blocker Kerri Beck was named to the all-tournament team.
Up next, the Lobos will put their 7-0 record to the test as they face off against in-state rival New Mexico State tonight in Las Cruces.
The matchup marks the 59th meeting between the two teams. The Aggies hold a 35-23 advantage in the series, including winning the last eight meetings.
