Editor,
You've seen them on television or in real life. Bone-thin with pained expressions. Victims of a socioeconomic disease known as world hunger. If you're like me, you've always wanted to do something to help, especially at this time of year, somehow. Yet you find that you don't have the time, money or other resources with which to contribute aid. Consequently, you push the thought to the back of your mind with a surge of guilt.
Why can't there be some way, you wonder, some easy way to help these people? Well, there is. Three Web sites are dedicated to this idea of helping feed someone at no other cost than a few seconds. First, there are TheHungerSite.com and Bhookh.com. Both operate on the same principle - you click a button, conveniently located at the top of the page. Your click is registered, and the site's sponsors pay for about 1 cup of "staple foods" per click. It takes only a few seconds.
A third option, if you want something in return, is FreeRice.com. This site operates like the vocabulary section of the SAT - you are given a word and four possible definitions. Choose the correct definition, and you've just donated 10 grains of rice. While that alone is not much, you're not likely to stop playing the game - for that's really what it is.
Do the world a favor, and visit these sites.
