Anthony Fairbanks was named Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after he broke the conference record in the javelin throw. The junior hit a mark of 224-11, which broke the MWC record by 2 1/2 feet. As of Tuesday, the distance is the fourth-best in the nation.

Meanwhile, distance runner Jeremy Johnson was granted a sixth year of eligibility after the NCAA accepted his medical hardship petition. The two-time All-American is scheduled to make his 2008 debut on April 5 at the Stanford Invitational.
