Conflicts around the world show U.S. not sustainable

Editor,

President Bush has borrowed more money from foreign creditors than all the presidents before him combined, from George Washington to Bill Clinton.

The U.S. government is $10 trillion in debt. The U.S. Army is at the breaking point. The U.S. has to borrow trillions from China to pay for tax cuts and the Iraq War.

The American empire is not sustainable. We are on a rock spinning in infinity. There are food riots and water wars breaking out around the Earth. The price of a barrel of oil hit a new record high of $117 as investors flee the falling dollar.

The price of wheat is up 161 percent from a year ago. Home foreclosures are up 57 percent. One in every 10 Americans is on food stamps. Wholesale inflation rose 1.1 percent in March, the biggest increase in 33 years. Even the price of beer could double.

The middle class has been hit hard by the fascist new world order of corporate globalization promoted by Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and Bush Jr.

The U.S. has been bombing Iraq nonstop for the last 17 years. A recent poll of hard-working Americans found a huge majority believes that ending the costly U.S. occupation of Iraq would help the spiraling U.S. economy.

The Iraq War ended with the fall of Saddam's regime. The war in Afghanistan ended with the fall of the Taliban regime. After the disasters in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Gaza, the U.S.-Israel combination is again beating the war drums against Iran.

The U.S. has military bases surrounding Iran in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

After the U.S. failed to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the American people were told that we were fighting for democracy and freedom.

Yet after the electoral victory of Hamas in Gaza, the U.S. ignored the results, covertly ignited a civil war and turned Gaza into a modern-day concentration camp.

I look forward to the day when the concrete blast walls all come tumbling down.

It has been many days since Bush said he'd catch Osama bin Laden dead or alive.

About 522 Iraqis have been killed in Iraq since then. I'd stock up on canned goods and shotguns and plenty of beer.
