Elementary education
Daily Lobo: Why did you choose elementary education?
Lisa Gillim: One day, I went to an elementary school, and I saw lots of kids, and I knew that's just what I wanted to do.
DL: You're not worried that it might stress you out some?
LG: It might a little bit, but I'll just have to overcome that in time.
DL: What do you want to teach when you graduate?

LG: I want to teach kindergarten.
DL: Are there good opportunities in New Mexico for teachers?
LG: I think so.
DL: Would you ever consider teaching on a reservation?
LG: Actually, my boyfriend is going to be joining the Air Force, and we're going to be moving state to state, if not country to country. So, I'm probably going to be teaching for the Department of Defense.
DL: Are you guys planning on getting married anytime soon?
LG: Yes, we are. We're getting married next April.
DL: Are you nervous?
LG: I'm more excited than I am nervous.
DL: What have you gotten done so far in terms of planning for the wedding?
LG: Not very much since he proposed to me on Saturday. So, we don't have much planned, other than we know we're getting married on the top of Sandia Peak.
DL: How did you meet?
LG: He was my next door neighbor. I thought he was a dork at first, but I got used to him, and I actually started to fall for him. We started dating May 2006, and this is going to be our two-year anniversary coming up.
DL: How did he propose?
LG: We were up on Sandia Peak, and he got down on one knee and proposed. It was really romantic.
DL: Did you see it coming?
LG: Yeah, I always see it coming. I'm just one of those romantic people that always sees it coming from miles away.
DL: When did you know that he was the one for you?
LG: I think it had to be Easter, when I spent the entire day with him and actually got to know him. It was really nice.
